ALL PEOPLE AC The Academic Center on the West Mall houses the busiest of the 31 branches of the University Library Sys- tem. Test days: everyone decides to show up for class. A walk: the professor decides that he has more valuable things to do than conduct class. A cut: the student believes he has more valuable things to do with his time than attend class. ATTENDANCE There are three ways to explain class attendance. Unconsciously, it becomes a part of the student ' s university experience. Art exists in the cornices of buildings, empty fountains and darkened hallways. In essence it is that which brings content- ment to otherwise chaotic lives. It is Monday ' s Peanuts comic strip or that perfect frisbee catch. It could be a break for a weekend trip to San Marcos for chili, New Braunfels for beer or San Antonio for food and culture. Or maybe it is dropping a few quarters in a pinball parlor over a goldfarb glass of beer, or the first girl scout cookie of the year. Maybe it ' s a puppet show at lunch or a one-and-a-half ring circus during a break in classes.
